Atrius Health Welcomes Dr. Monera Wong as Chief of Geriatric Medicine

Wong_MoneraAtrius Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Monera Wong as the organization’s Chief of Geriatric Medicine. As Chief, Dr. Wong will lead the Geriatric Medicine Department at Atrius Health, which offers primary care, home based care, post-hospitalization, rehabilitative and long term care in skilled nursing facilities, and palliative care consultations.

The department also offers geriatric consultation for patients 65 and older who are referred by their primary care physician. Geriatric consultations can be scheduled at our Harvard Vanguard practice locations in Braintree, Chelmsford, Chestnut Hill-West Roxbury, Kenmore, Medford, Peabody-Lynnfield, and Watertown; Dedham Medical Dedham; and Granite Medical Quincy.

Dr. Wong will work closely with nursing leadership to ensure that high quality patient care is delivered, while helping patients maintain their independence in later life.

Prior to joining Atrius Health, Dr. Wong served as Interim Chief of Geriatric Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) from 2014-2016 and Medical Director of the Geriatric Primary Care Practice at MGH from 2010-2014. Dr. Wong has a passion for teaching Geriatric Medicine and has been part of the faculty at Harvard Medical School since 2006. Dr. Wong’s clinical experience includes acute care, rehabilitation medicine, long term care, palliative care, community care and global health.

Dr. Wong attended medical school at The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London. She completed her residency and senior residency in Internal Medicine in the United Kingdom in 1998 and the Harvard Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine in 2004. In 2009, she received her MPH in Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard School of Public Health.
