Several members of the Harvard Vanguard family were recently honored at our annual ceremony, which recognizes staff who have made contributions in areas such as teaching and clinical innovation and have become role models for other staff. Robert H. Ebert Award of Distinction
This award honors the memory of Robert H. Ebert, MD, Dean of Harvard Medical School from 1965 to 1977 and a visionary founder of Harvard Community Health Plan. Dr. Ebert was widely recognized as a pioneer in managed healthcare and a guiding force in our practice. This award acknowledges an individual who stands out as a role model for others and whose contributions reflect extraordinary initiative and effort within and beyond his or her specific role in a way that makes a critical difference in achieving our mission.

Paul Solomon Peer Recognition Award
This award honors Paul Solomon, MD, a pediatrician of great clinical skill and medical staff leadership ability, who practiced for 22 years at our Cambridge office. Although Dr. Solomon retired in 1998, he served as a selectman in Belmont for 6 years and continues to serve his community vigorously and effectively as a member or chair of several town committees. Harvard Vanguard Physicians, Optometrists, Podiatrists, Psychologists and Advanced Practice Clinicians earn nominations from their peers and co-workers and are selected for this award based on their outstanding contribution to our group practice through clinical excellence, patient service, teaching or research.

This award is given to Harvard Vanguard clinicians who make outstanding contributions to teaching. The organization’s leadership role in teaching remains steadfast. Harvard Vanguard clinician-teachers help other clinicians adapt to a changing healthcare environment by affirming the core value of patient care and by helping students and colleagues learn how to manage quality and cost of care efficiently.
